Puno also had funny shrub sculptures, and Stella and I think that this one is a cuy, or guinea pig. Posted by Picasa

I was copying this Incan statue, but he was far more regal and imposing than me. Posted by Picasa

Inside the basilica, it was very pretty and somber. Posted by Picasa

We ran into a monastery in Chucuito. It also had a very nice expensive hotel and another one on the way. We were confused, because the usual way to get here is with colectivos, and there isnt very much to see there. Posted by Picasa

A different view of the lake, from Chucuito Posted by Picasa

We got a good laugh about the Catholic church sitting in the background of the fertility temple. Posted by Picasa

Me sitting on a figure. Posted by Picasa

In the temple of fertility. If you have to ask what the figures are, I am not sure you should know the answer. Posted by Picasa

Chucuito was a very quiet place to visit. It also had weird shrub designs in the plaza. Posted by Picasa

In a town 30 minutes from Puno, Chucuito. Posted by Picasa

With a bit of the island showing. Posted by Picasa

Another lake shot, but the reflections were amazing. Posted by Picasa

Pre Incan ruins on Taquile Island. They were taller, so they have bigger doors. I do feel like a giant here at times. Posted by Picasa

A group of natives in traditional wear. The red and white stocking hat says the guy is single. Posted by Picasa

Very blue, and very pretty. Posted by Picasa

With the sun slightly out, the lake is a brighter blue. Posted by Picasa

Other side of the square Posted by Picasa

The main square of Taquile Island. It is the only island to keep wearing their traditional clothes. You can tell if a guy is single or not just by the colors of his hat. Posted by Picasa

Another lake shot, aimed at the Bolivian side. The lake was also way bigger than I thought it was. Posted by Picasa

This is where we stayed. It was a lot nicer than I had expected. Posted by Picasa

We actually ate our meals in their kitchen. The meals were great, especially the Munya tea. This is the mom and her daughter and granddaughter (who had the most adorable but fattest cheeks I have ever seen). The daughter is 18 years old. They use a clay stove, and feed it those sticks. Posted by Picasa

Another gorgeous view of the lake from our house. I could live here, it is so peaceful and quiet. Posted by Picasa

Here I am dancing with the father of my host family. It was not very complicated and I had a lot of fun. I also didnt make a fool of myself, which helped. Posted by Picasa

Stella and I enjoyed watching others dance. Posted by Picasa
